SK Hynix said on the 9th that it has completed the development of a low-power dual-data-rate LPDDR5X chip based on the high-k metal gate (HKMG) technology and has begun sales. According to reports, the chip is the industry’s first mobile DRAM based on HKMG innovation.

This is the first time that SK Hynix has adopted the HKMG process on mobile DRAM, achieving an operating speed of 8.5Gbps, which is 33% higher than the previous generation, and significantly reducing power consumption.
Moreover, the power consumption of the new generation LPDDR5X chip is 25% lower than that of the previous generation, which meets the ultra-low voltage range of 1.01V to 1.12V set by JEDEC, and can achieve the industry’s highest power consumption efficiency and save more power.
As far as mobile chips are concerned, power consumption is the most important consideration. After all, the current mobile phone battery life is limited, so in order to prolong its use time as much as possible, major manufacturers are trying to ensure performance while reducing its power consumption as much as possible.
