Google fixes WhatsApp microphone access bug on Android phones

Google fixes the strange WhatsApp bug on Android devices where the app was hearsay to constantly accessing the microphone. As per the reports, the phone holders were facing the issue since last month. But the US tech giant has finally addressed it and pushed off a solution right away.

Recently, Google has added a new tweet on the Android Developers channel and states that the company fixes the abnormal WhatsApp microphone acccess bug. In addition, the manufacturer apologized for the unnecessary trouble and confusion that the bug would have caused to its users.

To those who are unaware, WhatsApp users have been reporting constant usage of the microphone, even when that app is not active. The access was visible through a green dot which mostly appears on the status bar when the microphone or camera of an app is in use or enabled.

Notably, this access is related to the Privacy Dashboard of the app, which created a bizarre among users regarding whether privacy is being affected due to this bug. Responding to consumers’ questions, WhatsApp said that it could a be bug on Android that misattributes information in their Privacy Dashboard. Though the company asked Google to investigate and remediate immediately.

As of now, the Android maker showed up with fixes on this issue and said that users can update their WhatsApp to get rid of this problem. To do so, you can check out the latest version of the application in the Google Play Store and install the same on your handset.
