WhatsApp will let you change tabs with left-right swipe gestures

WhatsApp keeps working on interesting tweaks that lift the bar of the app experience, and this time its swipe gestures. Yes, the new feature will enable users to change the tabs in the bottom navigation bar by just swiping their fingers left and right.

Bottom Navigation Bar? To those who are unaware, the company has offered a new look to the home screen of the app by shifting the navigation bar from top to bottom. While several users have already appreciated the interface, WhatsApp is now adding swipe gestures to it, making the revamp more effective.

According to the latest revealings, WhatsApp is testing the unique swipe capabilities in the Android 2.23.13.9 beta version. Eventually, you can move left or right between chats, calls, communications, and status, instead of tapping on a particular section.

This new change adds a bit of efficient interaction for users. It also animates the overall effect as you switch from one tab to another. One will notice a slight gray tone for the inactive tabs and a little highlight for the active sections.

Another significant addition that you will notice in this version is the rounded menus. On the flip side, the icon inside the rounded box changes when you pick the respective tab. Perhaps, this swiping change has been the most requested capability from users, so far.

As mentioned, the feature is under development for the moment and is only available to some lucky beta testers. However, we could hope to see this functionality soon with a stable release for general consumers.
