Google has started testing a new product for YouTube that will enable users to play online games in the application. According to the information, this element is known as ‘Playables’ and will soon make its way to the popular video streaming app.
The inputs further reveal that the ‘Playables’ feature on YouTube is an interesting initiative from Google, which will eventually open the doors for online games. Apart from watching your favorite web series and videos on the app, you would now be able to run new games as well.
It seems like this plan is a reflection of shutting down the Stadia platform. Consequently, Playables with titles accessible from the YouTube app/website on “mobile devices or desktop computers”. This means that the new feature will let you join into games right away from a video.
Here is what Google’s spokesperson said on this matter:
“Gaming has been long a focus at YouTube. We are always experimenting with new features, but have nothing to announce right now.”
