YouTube is readying three-strikes policy against ad blockers

YouTube is readying a new three-strikes policy which is going to be an aggressive approach against the ad blockers. While the change is still in the development phase, a few users on the Reddit platform reported the visibility of this strategy on the application.

As per the shared inputs, YouTube now shows a revised version of the dialog box with a three-strikes policy for ad blockers. It holds three numbered white boxes and reads the prompt that the video player will be blocked after three instances.

On the flip side, the same box shows two more options ‘Allow YouTube Ads’ and ‘Try YouTube Premium’. Consequently, the main motive behind this functionality is to restrict users from using adblocker services. Or else, they could risk the video streaming experience.

Although this will not completely put a halt to the process. A user said that uBlock Origin doesn’t seem to be blocked even after three chances. It means that Google is testing this prohibition and only availed it to a limited number of users at the moment.
