YouTube has been in the headlines for testing several new features for the application, and the latest one in this list is the 2x speed playback gesture. This will be a significant addition for moments when we want to skip the tiresome parts of a video.
At present, adjustment of the playback speed in videos requires a lengthy process by tapping a small window to show controls and then, pressing the settings gear in the top-right corner. However, you may get relief from this four-tap method with the all-new YouTube 2x speed playback gesture.

Just long press anywhere on the player when watching a clip to activate a boosting speed. On doing so, you will see a short “Playing at 2x speed” note at the top of the screen. The feature is accessible for Premium app users till August 13 and thereafter will step into the stable platform.
