Google is gearing up developments for Wear OS 4 upgrade. On the side hand, the company is marking an end to some supportive features for older versions. According to the new inputs, Google will soon drop the Assistant support for Wear OS 2 smartwatches.
The story begins when the US tech giant rolled out a new update for the Wear OS companion app with the 2.65.11.552438494 version. Notably, this build contains a string that read –
“Google Assistant support on this watch (running Wear OS 2) is ending soon. Please upgrade to a newer watch that supports Google Assistant and runs Wear OS 3 or later.”
Perhaps, Google is encouraging its users to switch to a better and more effective software version for their wearables that can bring them the latest features as well as improvements. For instance, Wear OS 3 offers a modern design with supported voice commands. One can:
- Manage their time and set timers, alarms, and reminders
- Initiate a call or send a message
- Control of smart home
- Get answers to your questions immediately
