YouTube Shorts risks core business, might ruin long-form videos format

YouTube Shorts have become quite popular among users, but at the same time, it has risked the core business and the long-form videos format. That’s not us but some of the senior staff members of the company, showing their concern regarding the new form of entertainment.

As per the latest report, YouTube staff is concerned about the Shorts risk over long-form videos. Notably, the long videos play a significant role in the revenue of the company. However, it’s dying out as Shorts has taken over the application.

Internal data further reveals that content creators have started making fewer long-form videos due to a lack of consumer appetite. As a result, this process impacts ad revenue since longer videos allow more advertising and a higher click-through rate on adverts to e-commerce sites.

YouTube members have said:

“Shorts was ‘designed to complement, not compete with, all the other formats creators use’ on the platform, such as audio and live streams.”

The company is still considering how to fix these impacts and gain new profits. However, such things will take some time as short-form content has gradually started leading the video-streaming application.
