X (formerly known as Twitter) continues to gain strange changes and one of them is ads without labels in the following feed. Yes, users have reported that the respective online social media platform has started showing advertisements as regular content.
It’s unclear whether this is happening due to a bug or an intentional change. But if the latter is the case, then X (Twitter) is breaking the rules of agencies like the FTC in the US and EASA in the EU that require ads with labels.
Adding more on this matter, one can only identify these ads by tapping on the three-dot menu at the top-right corner of the post. Eventually, it will display several options that are only confined to an ad post. For instance – Not interested in this ad or Why this ad?
If issue, this might be the result of an update related to the ad labeling format that the company released in July 2023. For some posts, the term ‘Ad’ appears on the top-right corner next to the poster’s name and @username which is quite less noticeable. Let’s see how the X firm will treat this topic in the coming days.
