Android 14 QPR1 Beta is on the way for Google Pixel devices

Google is already testing Android 14 beta versions on Pixel devices with new features and it looks like the US tech giant won’t take much time to release the QPR1 Beta build for its eligible handsets. As per some new revealings, the first QPR firmware is ready and will arrive by the next week.

After the beta 5.3 firmware which is hearsay to be the final patch, the firm is now preparing another beta program cycle for Android 14 that will now cover the Quarterly Platform Release (QPR1) aspects. Notably, you can opt for this activity without wiping your phone.

The information states that Android 14 QPR1 firmware will show up on the stage by September 18. The build stands on top of the Android 14 platform release and includes the latest bug fixes and improvements to stability as well as performance.

QPR builds are more stable for daily usage than other beta versions. We could expect stable firmware in this section near December 2023 with a Pixel Feature Drop. Note that you need to opt out of the Android Beta Program now or before the QPR1 to get the final stable public release.

Here is how the company explains this concept:

“Opt out of the program before September 18th, ignore/don’t apply the downgrade OTA update, and wait for the final public stable release of Android 14 (UP1A) coming soon. The OTA message will have ‘Downgrade’ in the description. Opting out will not cause a data wipe as long as you don’t apply the downgrade OTA update.”

“If you opt out after September 18th and your device has already been offered the Android 14 QPR1 Beta 1 update, don’t install the update. Instead, first, opt out of the program, ignore/don’t apply the downgrade OTA update, and wait for the official Android 14 public release.”
