Google Pixel Watch 2 unveiled with enhanced safety features

Google launched the Pixel Watch 2, yesterday along with the Pixel 8 series and Pixel Buds Pro new color options. The smartwatch has arrived as the successor to last year’s model. It has an identical design and packs incremental upgrades over its predecessor.

The smartwatch is IP68-certified dust and water-resistant up to 50 meters. It has a curved AMOLED screen measuring 1.6 inches with a 384 x 384-pixel resolution and always-on display mode. It further retains the heart-rate monitor, SpO2 sensor, and sleep tracker from its predecessor.

The smartwatch is also capable of detecting atrial fibrillation from the ECG app and delivering irregular heart-rate rhythm in the Fitbit app. It is said to offer 24 hours of battery life on a single charge and can top up fully with 80 minutes of charging.

Not only this but the Pixel Wath 2 has also obtained enhanced safety features. It comes with built-in car crash detection and fall detection that will help users connect to emergency services automatically if they are unresponsive.

Google Pixel Watch 2 is offered in woven, active, sport, and leather bands and it starts at $349 for the WiFi version whereas the LTE option costs $50 ($399) more. Users get six months of Fitbit Premium. It is up for pre-orders with sales commencing next week.
