In the ever-evolving landscape of digital communication and productivity, Gmail has taken another significant step to cater to the needs of tablet and foldable device users. As per the latest info, Gmail now opens links in a split-screen view on big-screen devices.
This innovative feature aims to enhance productivity and multitasking capabilities, making it easier for users to manage emails and navigate external links simultaneously. When you click a link in an email, it will now open in a side-by-side window instead of covering the entire screen.
The dual-column Gmail view shrinks to take up the left half of the screen, with the inbox sidebar giving way to just the message body. Simultaneously, this follows multi-instance support in Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
To be mentioned, the ability to open Gmail links in split-screen view is widely rolled out on large-screen devices like the Pixel Fold and Tablet. Therefore, it will also be available to the remaining devices soon.
