Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra: Sleek new design and updates on Galaxy Z Fold 7 S Pen innovation

Samsung is gearing up to launch its flagship Galaxy S25 Ultra with bold design changes and advanced features. Meanwhile, the company is exploring innovative S Pen solutions to make the Galaxy Z Fold 7 slimmer. Here’s a quick look at what we know so far.

Galaxy S25 Ultra: Slimmer Bezels, Stunning Colors

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to have one of the thinnest bezels ever seen on a smartphone, even beating competitors like the Xiaomi 15 and iPhone 16 Pro Max. The front design will feature symmetrical bezels that blend seamlessly into the screen and middle frame, giving it a clean and premium appearance.

Leaked Colors: Insider IceUniverse has shared details about the color variants of the S25 Ultra:

  • Blue: Light Blue back with a Silver-Blue middle frame
  • Black: Black back with a Silver frame
  • White: White back with a Light Silver frame
  • Gray: Gray back with a hint of Gold and a matching frame

Samsung might name these colors Titanium Blue, Titanium Black, Titanium WhiteSilver, and Titanium Gray, with some shades possibly exclusive to online sales.

Galaxy Z Fold 7: A Slimmer Design with New S Pen Tech

Samsung is working on reducing the thickness of its foldable phones while keeping S Pen functionality. The current Galaxy Z Fold SE, which is 1.5mm thinner than the Z Fold 6, achieved a slimmer build by removing the digitizer—a key part that enables stylus input. However, this move sacrificed S Pen support.

To solve this, Samsung is considering new S Pen technology that does not require a digitizer. The solution could involve electrostatic induction, similar to Apple Pencil’s AES (Active Electrostatic) technology. With AES:

  • The S Pen would house electrical components and a battery, requiring charging.
  • The phone’s display wouldn’t need extra parts, allowing a thinner design.

Samsung is expected to finalize this decision early next year.

Snapdragon Confirmed for Galaxy S25 Series

Samsung has reportedly committed to using Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chips globally for the Galaxy S25 series. Initially, Samsung planned a split strategy—Snapdragon for the US and Exynos for other markets. However, in late 2023, Samsung decided to shift entirely to Snapdragon.

Fastprint, a Chinese supplier, secured early approval for the production of the main HDI boards, giving it an edge in the supply chain. Korean firms DAP and Korea Circuit also received approval but slightly later.

Galaxy S25 Series Models and Release Details

The Galaxy S25 lineup will include three models:

  • Galaxy S25
  • Galaxy S25+
  • Galaxy S25 Ultra

Samsung expects to ship around 37 million units of the Galaxy S25 series, broken down as:

  • S25: 13-14 million units
  • S25+: 6-7 million units
  • S25 Ultra: 17 million units

Reports suggest Samsung will maintain the same pricing as the Galaxy S24 series, avoiding a price increase. The Galaxy S25 is expected to launch on January 22 in the US.

With cutting-edge design updates, S Pen innovations for foldables, and a confirmed Snapdragon shift, Samsung’s upcoming lineup is shaping up to be exciting for 2024.
