Apple is rolling out a new 3A283 firmware update for Airpods 2 and AirPods Pro which introduces support for Spatial audio. This new feature will be available for the higher end Airpods with iOS 14.
The Spatial audio feature is added as an option on the control center and users can directly enable it from there. once enabled, the feature provides you immersive and enhanced sound experience while using your Airpods. To use this feature, users required to install iOS 14 on their iPhone.
According to MacRumors, the Spatial Audio brings movie theater-like sound experience in your Airpods. Through dynamic head tracking it creates immersive sound anywhere in the space by applying a directional audio filter and some frequency adjustments.
The spatial audio feature uses several sensors like gyroscope and accelerometer to track the motion of your head and your iPhones position. It then compares the motion data and remaps the sound field to adjust the sound frequencies to provide you with a better sound experience even as your head moves.
This new update also brings an automatic switching feature between devices that is available for Airpods and Airpods Pro. This feature lets you connect to any other Apple devices with the same Apple ID.
