Apple is all set to release its macOS Big Sur update that comes with the support for HDR video streaming on Netflix. Users will now be able to watch 4K HDR in Netflix for the first time on their Mac running on macOS Big Sur. Although the ultra HD streaming is only compatible on Macs embedded with Apple’s T2 Security chip.
Netflix webpage shows the following information which makes it clear that, T2 Security chip is compulsory for Macs to stream in ultra HD.
Netflix is available in Ultra HD on Mac computers. To stream in Ultra HD, you will need:
- A Mac computer with macOS 11.0 Big Sur installed.
- The latest version of Safari browser
- Select 2018 or later Mac computer with anĀ Apple T2 Security chip
- A 60Hz 4K capable display (with HDCP 2.2 connection if external display).

To stream in ultra HD, the Macs must fulfill the above mentioned requirements, but the T2 security chip is must. Here’s the list of all the Macs that come with Apple T2 Security Chip.
