Rumor: Old phones with Kirin 710 may get HarmonyOS but Kirin 970 phones might not

Huawei launched EMUI 11 and HarmonyOS 2.0 at HDC 2020 and according to Richard Yu, the beta SDK of HarmonyOS for the smartphone will be released in December 2020.

As recently a new leak claimed to reveal the HarmonyOS rollout process and includes devices powered by Kirin processor. The first batch consists of Kirin 9000 (first batch), 990 5G (second batch), all the way to Kirin 810, and 710 in the last batch.

In the above adaption roadmap, the last batch of HarmonyOS 2.0 rollout includes the older smartphones powered by Kirin 810 and 710. On the other hand, Kirin 970 is not a part of the HarmonyOS upgrade plan, which powers Huawei P20, P20 Pro, Mate 10 series, Honor 10, View 10, and more.

The leaks confirmes that the older devices will get the latest HarmonyOS 2.0 beta updates and devices with Kirin 970 will not.

According to information, some mobile phone users will be open to upgrading the Hongmeng OS 2.0 beta in January and February next year in China. The initial upgrade will be verified for several months. After that, the update will fully be released.
