Samsung has recently launched the Galaxy S21 lineup which contains Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra. At the launch conference, the company has announced that it has partnered with numerous automobile makers to deliver a digital key experience with the new Galaxy S21 series flagships.
According to the info, Samsung stated that the company is collaborating with Audi, BMW, Ford, and Genesis to enable the Galaxy S21 lineup users to unlock the door of the car via their smartphone by just approach a compatible vehicle.
Samsung explained – “With precise distance calculation, Samsung’s UWB-enabled digital key sends short pulses between the mobile device and the paired car, unlocking the door once you reach it. Without UWB, users will be able to use their compatible smartphones as a car key through NFC.”
However, Samsung’s Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, Galaxy S21+, and S21 Ultra support UWB functionality which is needed for the “find my car” feature. On the other hand, the Galaxy S21 users will be able to unlock the eligible vehicle by tapping an NFC receiver on the door’s handle of the car.
