MediaTek officially released its new chipsets that are Dimensity 1100 and Dimensity 1200 using TSMC’s latest 6nm process. Both of the SoCs are first to use the Cortex-A78 and are above the previous Dimensity 1000+ processor.
Among these two chips, the Dimensity 1200 is the premium version than 1100 one. It uses the eight-core in the ratio of 1+3+4 along with the Cortex-A78 which clocks at 3GHz while there are three more A78 cores at 2.6GHz and the quartet of A55 cores running at 2.0GHz.
Coming to the Dimensity 1100, it also uses eight cores but in different ways. It has four Cortex-A77 cores which clock at 2.6GHz while the other four are Cortex-A55 at 2.0GHz. The architecture of this CPU is the same as the previous generation Dimensity 1000+.

Both the Dimensity 1100 and 1200 chips use Mali-G77 MC9 GPU with 9 cores for graphics processing. Coming to the camera department, with 5 cores ISP (Image Signal Processor), the Dimensity 1200 supports up to a 200MP camera lens along with the support for 4K HDR videos. Whereas, the Dimensity 1100 can use a 108MP camera sensor.
In terms of display, the Dimensity 1200 can support up to 168Hz display at 1080p resolution while the Dimensity 1100 chip can offer a 144Hz screen at 1080p resolution. Further, both SoCs are 5G capable and can provide you with a speed of up to 4.7Gbps.
Taking a look at the specs of both the chipsets, the difference can be seen in the camera support and display quality that they can support. However, we’ll get more insights on them once we test them on real devices along with different hardware combinations.
Several OEMs including Realme, Oppo, Xiaomi, Vivo, and Oppo will be bidding to use these chipsets on their smartphone, which could be expected to launch around the first half of the year.
