Other than the hardware features, users are most excited about the software system of any smartphone. With the friendly user interface and regular software updates, the device remains up to date with all the new features and the latest security.
Samsung has been on the top when it comes to updates, the company has surprised its users several times by providing some unexpected software updates for its Galaxy devices. During the rollout of the One UI 3.0 update, we have encountered some unexpected releases as the South Korean tech giant has also included budget devices for the first time in the beta program of One UI 3.0.
The Korean firm has recently announced that most of the Galaxy devices will be receiving four years of software support. While there will be two or three major upgrades and security improvements for up to four years. With its new updates policy, Samsung has proved to be better than any other OEM in terms of software updates.
The security patches are released monthly or quarterly based on the mid-range or the flagship devices. While, two years after the launch, the company will be sending updates most frequently and now there is one more update. Samsung has clarified that in the fourth year of the update cycle, the Galaxy devices will be receiving security patches biannually (i.e. twice a year).

As per the official page of the company, there are around 35 devices that will be receiving security updates biannually, and mostly these are the smartphones that were launched in 2017 or 2018. Below is the list of the Galaxy devices that will be getting biannual security updates.
