Sony releases next-generation powerful wearable AC, REON POCKET 2

Sony has announced a follow-up product to Reon Pocket, an application-controlled “wearable air conditioner” introduced last year after the company crowded its own platform. The Rion Pocket 2 looks more or less the same as the original model, but the newly designed interior can achieve up to twice the mean temperature of the internal swelling, resulting in a more powerful cooling display.

Sony also says it is improving sweat-proofing in the Rion Pocket 2, making it more suitable in light exercise conditions. The previous model was mostly sold as something to wear with a special undershirt to make summer more worthy, but Sony has focused on more versatile consumption cases around this time – especially golf.

The company has partnered with sportswear brands including Le Coq Sportif, Munsingwear, and Descente to create several golf wear with pockets for slotting the device.

Sony has also designed the NextRap accessory so that the Rain Pocket can be used with regular clothing. First, you have to buy a bunch of pocketed undershirts from Sony. Rion Pocket 2 is out in Japan today at 14,850 yen (about $,138). No word to be released anywhere else.
