Semiconductor contract manufacturing company Globalfoundries has announced it is moving its headquarters to Malta, New York. The headquarters will now be located on the premises of Fab 8, the most advanced enterprise of Globalfoundries.
Over the past decade, the manufacturer has invested over $ 15 billion in Fab 8. These funds made it possible to improve technology and expand production. In 2021, the company will double its investment in expanding its manufacturing facilities globally from its previous plan. At the same time, $ 500 million is intended for a site in Malta.

According to the company’s plan, the transfer of the headquarters to the immediate vicinity of modern production made it possible to accelerate the introduction of new developments and to cooperate more effectively with large customers.
Of the more than 15,000 employees working at Globalfoundries around the world, 7,000 are in the United States, of which almost 3,000 are in Malta, that is, they work for Fab 8. Last year, the company entered into an agreement giving it the right to purchase a site for a new plant next to Fab 8.
