Canalys released a report saying that the Chinese smartphone market has finally returned to the level of the first quarter of 2019. Smartphone shipments reached 92.4 million units, a year-on-year increase of 27%.
The report pointed out that Vivo won the domestic market laurels, with shipments soaring 79% year-on-year to 21.6 million units. OPPO ranked second with 20.6 million units shipped.
Huawei slipped to third, shipping 14.9 million units in the first quarter of 2021 (after independence, glory ranked sixth with nearly 5 million units). In addition, Xiaomi and Apple ranked fourth and fifth respectively, shipping 13.5 million and 12 million units respectively.

Canalys research analyst Amber Liu said, “The Chinese smartphone market has regained its past prosperity, and leading players are racing to reach the peak of the market, which is similar to the first quarter of 2020 or even the fourth quarter of 2020. In comparison, the number of smartphone releases this quarter was unusually high.”
