On January 14, the US government blacklisted nine Chinese companies, including Xiaomi, on the so-called “Chinese military-related” blacklist to prevent American companies from investing in these companies. The investment ban will come into force next week.

Later, Xiaomi Group sued the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Treasury in the District Court for the District of Columbia on January 29.

Xiaomi believes that in the decisions of the above two organizations, the company was recognized as a “Chinese military company” by the NDAA and there were procedural unfairness and factual identification errors.

In order to protect the interests of the company’s global users, partners, employees and shareholders, the court is requested to declare the decision illegal and rescind the decision.

On March 13, Washington District Judge Rudolf Contreras issued a preliminary injunction on Friday to prevent the US Department of Defense from restricting US investors’ investments in the Xiaomi Group.
