The Windows 10 Sun Valley preview version brings a new feature that allows third-party applications to independently support HDR display output. This function combined with HDR display can provide a better display effect for design software such as PhotoShop.
In this update, Windows 10’s HDR display support can not only be adjusted in the system settings but also can be turned on separately for a single application. In the current Win10 20H2 and previous systems, most applications will be limited to the sRGB color gamut by the system, which will cause the performance of the display to not be fully utilized.
Initially, the HDR display function will be turned on for applications that support ICC color profiles, including Lightroom Classic, CorelDraw, Photoshop, etc. After turning on this function, the display details of highlights and shadows will be richer when editing photos.

The latest Win10 Sun Valley preview version adds an option to the properties of the application. After opening it, you also need to turn on the “HDR and WCG” setting in the system settings and turn on the HDR mode.
In addition, for game applications, Microsoft is developing a new feature called ” Auto HDR .” This feature can automatically enable HDR support for supported games. If the player has a monitor that supports HDR display, this feature will be automatically enabled.
Microsoft’s latest Win10 beta version will also launch a new Segoe UI default font, which will be automatically fine-tuned under different circumstances to improve readability.
