A new set of Cyberpunk 2077 patch notes are here, marking the first set of updates for the game since update 1.22 arrived on April 28.
Cyberpunk 2077 update 1.23 is largely composed of fixes for specific quest issues and problems which could arise more generally when you’re out exploring Night City. The Heist mission in particular has had a number of bugs squashed, so make sure you check that out again if you encountered problems before.

Meanwhile, the changes out in the general open world itself rectify some chilling and morbidly hilarious problems, such as an issue where NPC’s dead bodies could get stuck in their own car after stealing it, and an issue where “dropping an NPC’s body caused too much destruction.”
Cyberpunk 2077 update 1.23 also fixes up some issues under the hood, with “numerous crash fixes in animations, UI, scene, physics and gameplay systems” and memory optimizations that should do their part to reduce crashes as well.
Even if you weren’t running into many crashes before, you might notice the difference out on the streets: CD Projekt Red says memory and I/O improvements mean you’ll run into fewer instances of identical NPCs appearing in the same area. Honestly, that was one of Cyberpunk 2077’s most uncanny yet hilarious glitches, so we might miss this one.
According to CD Projekt Red’s updated Cyberpunk 2077 roadmap, we’re now in the stretch of time dedicated to “multiple patches and updates” – in other words, there’s no specific timetable for the next big update, aside from the fact that the new-gen native version of the game is planned to be released in the second half of this year, and the current version is headed back to PlayStation Store next week. Until then, we’ll keep an eye out for more bug fixes and dead NPC stowaways.
