Intel, Google, and Broad Institute get together for advanced biomedical research 

In order to accelerate genome research, the Broad Institute, affiliated with MIT and Harvard University, cooperated with Intel and Google Cloud to optimize the workflow to get Google N1 and N2 instances.

Compared with the workloads initially expanded on Google Cloud, this cooperation has reduced the optimized data processing costs by 85%.

Moreover, in order to adapt to the rapid increase in the amount of genomic data and computational research needs, the Broad Institute moved its load to the Google Cloud N2 instance.

After migrating to N2 instances based on Intel Xeon Scalable processors, Broad Institute users can increase the speed of their genomics workflow on Google Cloud by approximately 25% and reduce costs by 34%.

Intel said that it has been cooperating with Broad Institute since 2017 and has also helped optimize its pipeline deployment on Google Cloud.

In addition, the Broad Institute, Microsoft, and Verily have jointly developed a scalable platform Terra for global biomedical researchers to access data, run analysis tools.
