The EU denies Apple’s claim on mandatory use of USB-C, the EU says it’s better for consumers and the environment. Apple previously said that the EU’s decision to force the use of the USB-C interface would stop innovation.
According to the official EU news website, the EU denied Apple’s claims and stated that the practice is more beneficial to consumers and the environment.

Anna Cavazzini, President of the EU Consumer Protection Committee, said: “The European Parliament has been pushing for 10 years for one standard so that we no longer need lots of cables, just one”. In addition, Anna Cavazzini also pointed out: ” If there is a new standard that is better than USB-C, we can adjust the rules.”
Cavazzini stated that the rule may take effect as early as 2024.
In September, the European Commission proposed to use the USB-C interface as a universal charging interface for smartphones, tablets, cameras, headphones, speakers, and video game consoles.
Apple said that this move will cause inconvenience to iPhone users, and also said the move will stop innovation.
