AMD unveils new Genoa-X Snapdragon processor up to 96 cores

At AMD’s 2022 Financial Analyst Day, AMD confirmed its data center CPU roadmap. AMD’s 4th generation EPYC CPU will be divided into four types: Genoa, Bergamo and Genoa-X, and Siena, all based on the Zen4 architecture.

A new product line AMD reportedly announced today is “Siena,” a new custom chip designed for the telecom market, based on the Zen 4 architecture and optimized for energy efficiency.

Genoa is designed for the SP5 platform, with up to 96 cores, and will support DDR5 memory and PCIe Gen5 and CXL interface. The new Genoa-X, a variant of the EPYC 7004 series Zen4 Genoa, will feature 3D V-Cache technology with over 1 GB of L3 cache.

Moreover, AMD confirmed that Genoa-X will have as many cores as Genoa. AMD Genoa-X and Siena are both due next year.
