Adobe claims that the web version of Photoshop is available in “freemium” mode. Currently, most of Photoshop’s tools, brushes, and other features are available for free. However, Adobe plans to turn off some features that are exclusive to paid subscribers. Nonetheless, “enough” tools will be provided for free to run what Adobe claims are the core functionality of Photoshop.

The web version of Adobe Photoshop is relatively new. Adobe launched the platform back in October 2021. At the time, users had access to a fairly basic version of the app. In other words, the user only needs to perform some simple edits. All sophisticated tools and effects are unavailable. However, Adobe has been steadily improving the web version of Photoshop.

Adobe PhotoshopThe most significant benefit of Adobe Photoshop for the web is a fast and dynamic collaboration with other users. Also, in the initial release, users had to share documents to the web from the desktop app. However, the updated version allows any Photoshop subscriber to log in and start a new template directly from the web page.

Adobe clearly positions the web version of Photoshop as a collaboration tool; where multiple users can make some changes and leave comments. As Photoshop becomes more accessible, more users can legally try out the platform and explore its features and potential. Adobe hopes that these users will eventually be able to pay for access to the full version of Photoshop.

The latest version of Adobe Photoshop for the web offers a variety of powerful tools, including the Refine Edge, Curves, Dodge, and Burn tools, as well as the ability to transform Smart Objects. The web version will also gain mobile support for viewing and commenting on images.
