The report pointed out that Japan’s semiconductor manufacturing is lagging behind, and the government aims to strengthen infrastructure construction through subsidies and other means. The Japanese government’s subsidies to TSMC and other companies are the first projects stipulated by relevant laws and will be gradually released by the end of 2024.

According to previous related news, TSMC’s factory in Kumamoto, Japan, started construction earlier this year, and is expected to complete construction in September 2023, and start supplying products to the market in December 2024.

It is reported that this factory will mainly provide 22nm and 28nm manufacturing processes in the early stage to manufacture semiconductor chips for some related companies, and will add 12nm and 16nm chip foundry services in the future.

At the same time, the factory is expected to have more than 1,700 employees, of which about 320 people are dispatched from TSMC, while Sony Group will also dispatch about 200 people to the Kumamoto factory.
