Google renovates Android Auto with new features for electric vehicles

Google has picked up the Android Auto application to renovate and is adding some new features that are tied up to electric vehicles. The primary aim of this theory is to provide better support and driving experience to EV consumers.

In the latest development, Google is implementing a handful of new features for Android Auto and one of them is to manually identify cars as electric vehicles. Further, toggle on EV features automatically, within Google Maps. Eventually, this app shows up in the application under the Settings menu with a new section “EV Settings”.

Meanwhile, some other functionalities include which charging connector your EV is using. Here, the list counts J1772, CCS (Combo 1 and 2), Type 2, and CHAdeMO. We may expect some more additions in the series, in the coming updates.

Alongside these tweaks, there are strings related to battery meters that display charge levels directly using Android Auto. Though at this moment, surety on this matter is not enough. Accordingly, the features appearing in the Android Auto 9.9 version, and may get more new functionalities in the upcoming app builds.
