Google appears to be removing Assistant branding from Glance widgets | Fitbit by Google renames as Google Fitbit
It appears that Google is removing the Assistant branding from the Glance widget. The Google app for Android (beta v15.11) has reportedly removed “Assistant” from the front of the tagline. It is now known as “At a Glance”, without Google Assistant. More specifically, Android’s At a Glance home screen widget is no longer branded as a Google Assistant extension.
The branding simplification isn’t just limited to widget taglines as Google Assistant has also been removed from the Settings page. This indicates that Gemini will soon take over all Android functionalities!
According to 9to5Google, the widget was redesigned in October and was previously called “Assistant at a Glance.” The description credits Google Assistant with “[showing] you what you need, right when you need it.”
Months after Google introduced the Fitbit, the company has retired it in favor of the Google Fitbit. So far, the “Fitbit by Google” branding has been used on Fitbit.com, videos, and product packaging.
The company has dropped the “Fitbit by Google” moniker on its website in favor of “Google Fitbit”. Since “Google” now appears first, it may later become a four-color “G” icon.
The Google Store added several Fitbit watch and tracker accessories a few days ago. This follows the previous list of Fitbit devices, which were sold through the Google Store.
