Google Camera 9.0 update brings major UI tweaks, but there’s a catch

Posted on

Google is releasing another big update for its camera application with a 9.0 build that will amaze users with impressive redesigned tweaks. But to enjoy the new enhancements and capabilities, users will require the major Android 14 upgrade.

Speaking of the update, the Google Camera 9.0 (9.0.115.561695573.37) version introduces a Photo/Video switcher at the bottom of the screen. Besides, it contains a pill-shaped icon for the settings panel at the left which you can also access by swiping up gestures.

Another modification counts in the carousel section which has the following camera features:

  • Photo: (L-R) Action Pan, Long Exposure, Portrait, Photo, Nigh Sight, Panorama, Photo Sphere
  • Video: Pan, Blur [Cinematic], Video, Slow Motion, Time Lapse

Let us tell you that one can easily enable the Night Sight mode with a swipe. On the other hand, the video controls occupy better space to enhance visibility. You will further find the ‘Modes’ from the very end whereas, the switcher appears to be handy.

The overall redesign also turns around the camera roll preview. Here you have to long press for Locked Folder while and front/rear lens switcher positions. All this stuff relies on the bottom space without showing any UI segment at the top of the application.

At the same time, the company has revamped the themed icon which seems to be larger than the previous version. Everything combined, the modes and features are quite easy to access and appear to be one-handed.

Requires only Android 14!

Unfortunately, these changes are confined to Android 14 and will not get installed on Android 13 or older versions. Thus, Pixel users running the beta build on their handsets would be able to enjoy the perk of this camera update.
