Google Chat now lets you star messages on Android

Posted on

On November 16, 2023, Google introduced a new feature in Google Chat, that allows users to star messages, however, this functionality was exclusive to the web so far, but now it is also available on Android. This new feature is going to be a great addition as it eases the process of finding important chats.

Going toward the details, the Google Chat for Android will let you long-press on a message in a 1:1, group, or Spaces conversation to find the new Star option. This is available for any message, including those you’ve sent. However, using this feature will require the addition of an overflow button to the floating bar.

Accordingly, to find what you saved, you just need to tap on the new three-dot overflow button at the end of the floating bar. A sheet pops up with Mentions which has been relegated and Starred. This feed shows the conversation and text of what’s been saved.

Simultaneously, the star messages feature in Google Chat for Android is rolling out with version  2024.01.21.x, so just upgrade your app to the latest version and enjoy the latest offering.
