Google Chrome celebrates 15th birthday with Material You redesigning

Posted on

Google is celebrating the 15th birthday of the Chrome application and to mark this day in golden letters, the company is adding Material You redesign for the desktop version. Let’s see what has changed for the browsing app.

While the general layout remains the same, the tech giant has modified corners into more rounded shapes. On the other hand, the top portion of the browser including tabs, Omnibox, and bookmark bar appears to be taller than before.

Moving ahead, the company has highlighted Material You theming for Google Chrome on icons. Eventually, the icons now also appear in the three-dot overflow menu to make finding key settings easier. Some of the main menus have been reordered along with a new sub-menu for your signed-in Google Account.

The company has further removed the lock from the address bar with a new icon for accessing sites. Users will notice a ‘Search this page with Google’ feature that opens a panel for images and related queries.

This Chrome Material You redesign is rolling out over the coming weeks with version 117 hitting stable next week.
