As the latest info, the company has released a new version of the Google Chrome Browser with the Zero-day-Bug fix. In this update for Chrome, potential exploits of this bug could range from program crashes to arbitrary code execution. If the appenders receive arbitrary code execution, they may be able to bypass security solutions and launch more destructive exploits.

Normally Chrome automatically installs an update after the app restarts. So, if the update has reached you, you might already be running the latest version. To be completely sure, click the three-dot menu in the top right corner of your desktop screen and select Settings. Now click About Chrome at the bottom. If you are running version 103.0.0.5060.114, you are safe. Otherwise, check for updates.

According to Google, the latest update for Chrome on the stable desktop channel also includes three more security fixes. External researchers contributed two of these – CVE-2022-2296 and CVE-2022-2295 – reported in May and June, respectively. These are also vulnerabilities of high severity, but with no known exploits in the wild.

In case you didn’t know, a zero-day vulnerability is software that had an exploit in the wild before the software vendor realized it or released a fix. This is the fourth vulnerability discovered so far in Chrome in 2022. Google patched a vulnerability in February, March, and April each.
