Google Docs allows you to tag a user within the document

Posted on

Google has released a new update for G Suit, now you can mention another user in Google Docs within the document itself. When typing in Docs, press ‘@’ — this will trigger a dropdown menu where you can search and select the user.

If you mention a user who does not have access to the Google Docs, you’ll receive a prompt with sharing suggestions. You can share the document at that time or decline and use the regular docs sharing function when the time is right.

This is available for all Google Workspace customers. Previously, this was only possible within a comment and it’ll now rollout gradually from October 6, while the full rollout will start from October 29, 2020.
