Google Docs and Drive gets e-signature feature for Workspace users
Google Docs and Drive are powerful apps for Workspace individual users and to maintain their efficiency, the company is now adding an e-signature feature. Currently, the capability is only available to limited customers, but the OEM won’t take much time to roll it out widely.
As per the revealings, the US tech giant previewed this interesting element last year. From the name, the e-signature feature in Google Docs and Drive enables you to sign an official contract within the app without any requirement to switch tabs or applications.
Users can request signatures by drag-and-drop fields into a document including name, initials, and date signed. That’s not it. Google further generates a locked PDF file and sends it to specified recipients, allowing you to monitor the status of e-signature requests.
At present, the company has availed this functionality in the open beta phase for Workspace Individual users. Additionally, the tech giant will add the following features to e-signatures in the coming days:

- Audit trail: all completed contracts will automatically contain an audit trail report.
- Multi-signer: the ability to request a signature from more than one user.
- Non-Gmail users: the ability to request an eSignature from non-Gmail users
- Initiating eSignature on PDF: the ability to initiate an eSignature on PDF files stored in Drive
