Google is planning to mark an end to the Basic HTML view of Gmail by the next year. This change is in favor of a more feature-rich and standard view for all users. Alternatively, the company has started sending emails to some users on this matter.
Looking into the details, the email didn’t mention any specific details for the closure of the Gmail Basic HTML view. However, it says that things will come into action in early January 2024. Meanwhile, the tech giant has tagged the notice on the official support page as well.
Let’s see what the email says:
“We’re writing to let you know that the Gmail Basic HTML view for desktop web and mobile web will be disabled starting early January 2024. The Gmail Basic HTML views are previous versions of Gmail that were replaced by their modern successors 10+ years ago and do not include full Gmail feature functionality.”
A major reason behind discontinuing the respective layout is – it lacks a bunch of features that are useful in today’s scenarios. Perhaps, these new changes will be visible for both mobile and web versions. It will further make the application more useful.
