Google Meet getting redesign with options to make your calls more accessible and engaging

Previously just a commercial service, Google Meet opened up to everyone last year, as a highly contagious virus began to circulate, and people needed a tool to effectively replace face-to-face meetings. While the zoom argument remains the most popular option, Google Meet has quickly become a very solid option with tremendous setup and market share.

Now, Google Meet is getting redesigned as well as options to make your links more accessible and attractive. Google Meat’s new design, as announced in the official blog post, includes a more spacious design that focuses more on video feeds, taking up as much free space as possible with tiles for each feed, which is even more appropriate with Google.

Current design language instead of the current grid-like view (the mobile version of the app was redesigned too long ago). Conversely, if you don’t want to see your own face in a call, the new, modern-looking UI also allows you to minimize or hide your own video feed, and there are also changes to how video feeds are pinned and unpinned. For example, you can publish a presentation and speaker or multiple speakers at once.

Other features added include a data saver feature that can optimize video calls over slow internet connections by limiting data usage, which is very useful in countries with slow internet or expensive data plans.

Low-light mode, which was also introduced in the Google Meet app on mobile, is also entering the web version. This feature can automatically detect if there is too little or too little light and/or exposure on the user’s face and increase the video feed so that it is clearly visible. Autozoom also means to improve visibility by automatically positioning it in front of your camera.

Last but not least, the video background makes its way to Google Meet, which can change the backdrop of your video feed to whatever you like. We previously had image backgrounds for your calls, which allowed you to select from the background list or upload your own image.

Now, animated backgrounds are available, and Google allows you to choose from 3, classroom, party, and forest from the initial list. These features should be launched in the next few weeks, although oz Tozum will, at the very least, be available to first-time enterprise users.
