Google Messages will soon get improved multi-device capability

Posted on

Google Messages already can let you send and receive texts on multiple handy gadgets. But in the latest development, the company is trying to improve this capability. According to the information, Google is working on a true multi-device feature for the Messages app on Android.

Recently, the familiar Google apps observer @AssembleDebug spotted some new string in the Google Messages app that hints at better multi-device support. The tipster found the codes in the latest beta version of the application – 20230907_01_RC00.

As per the details, the string reads the following statements:

“Use your phone number to send and receive messages on devices signed into your Google accounts.
Messages from your phone number on your other devices.”

The tipster further cites that this tweak could be mainly for Google Pixel Tablet and other big-screen devices that rely upon the web app rather than the phone version. The feature isn’t live at the moment and a few server-side tweaks are still missing.

Moving ahead, the tipster noted a new alert that helps you shield your private messages from others. It reads – We suspect that there is a screen reader active on your device. Your content will be accessible once it is turned off. Let’s see how many more such tweaks will line up for the chat app in the upcoming days.
