Google Messages testing new method to highlight unread text

Google currently displays unread chats in bold text in Google Messages. This is going to change soon. The tech giant is reportedly working on a new method to expose unread messages. 

AndroidCentral (Via-SammyFans) reported that Google Messages is testing a new method to showcase a blue dot to the right of an unread message’s timestamp. The latest change was discovered by a tipster in the Google Message app’s latest beta version v10.6.240.

Google has long been using these types of dots as notification badges on the home screen of the best Android phones. So this may sound quite recognized to you, seeing as it’s not advanced. These badges are also available on the Apple iPhone. iOS,

The messaging app beta version v10.6.240 version brings some new features for users’ queries so they will be able to see our unread messages clearly by the new blue dot method. The new updates will help to highlight the unread text, so you don’t miss receiving messages.

Although, WhatsApp already has this feature, which slows down Google Messages in the game. But, if we consider it going to messages in the future, the feature is still a welcome addition to the messaging app.
