Following the debut for iOS, Google Photos is now rolling out the most useful and prominent Photo Stacks feature to Android devices. It’s worth knowing that, Google keeps on bringing new attributes and making changes in the functionalities of its applications to offer users a more seamless experience than before.
Talking about the recent addition, so this new Photo Stack feature helps users to organize similar photos that were taken together within a short time frame on Android devices. Google automatically groups identical pictures so you only get one image in the main grid and tapping on that will open all the similar items.
This will refine the Google Photos app user interface and provide a clear and more adequate look as well as experience. To be mentioned, Google is leveraging AI for Photo Stacks with a vertical three-dot menu and is horizontal on iOS to quickly enable or disable the Stack similar photos.
In the Photos tab, you’ll see a number and icon in the top-right corner of the thumbnail to signal when this has occurred. When you open a grouping, all the images appear in a carousel that you can swipe through. A 2×2 button at the front of that bottom filmstrip will let you view everything as a grid.
There are also some options available that let you set a different top pick, remove a photo from the collection, and keep some but delete all others to clean up your library. Simultaneously, you can also share the stack, add a stack to albums, and even unstack an entire photo stack to view them individually in the main grid.
