Google Voice is getting spam warnings capability for texts

Posted on

Google Voice is an effective communication app that is now getting the ‘spam warnings’ capability for text. After giving some touch-ups to the outlook via Material You, the company is now adding user-facing changes to the application.

Notably, Google Voice already has the ‘spam warnings’ feature for phone calls. But in the latest development, the tech giant is expanding the useful functionality to the messages section. The app will now show a red exclamation mark in the profile avatar spot and the text preview shows ‘Suspected Spam’ in a matching color.

At the same time, the app offers two options:

  • Confirm a suspected spam message, which causes future messages from that number to go directly into the spam folder.
  • Mark a labeled message as not spam, after which the suspected spam label is never displayed for that number again.

These new enhancements are available for both free accounts and paid ones on Android as well as iOS and rolling out gradually to users. In addition, you may find birthday decorations animation if you have added your birthday to your Google Account profile and set the information to be visible to others.
