A well-known social media application – Instagram introduced Sensitive Content Controls to help keep teens away from potentially sensitive content, earlier this year. Instagram is further improving the feature to automatically limit sensitive content for its under 18 users.
Recently, Instagram announced to update its Sensitive Content Controls to guide teens away from sensitive content when signing up for Instagram and limit sensitive content. This Sensitive Content Controls settings now have three options – More, Standard, and Less.

According to the information, Standard is the default status that will prevent people from viewing certain sensitive content and accounts. And More enables people to view more sensitive content and accounts.
Meanwhile, teenagers under 16, who sign up for Instagram, will be defaulted into the Less state, the More option is not available for them. While teens who are already on Instagram will be sent a prompt that will encourage them to select the Less experience.
Selecting the Less state will make it more difficult for young people to come to potentially sensitive content or accounts in Search, Explore, Hashtag Pages, Reels, Feed Recommendations, and Suggested Accounts.
Simultaneously, the company is also testing a new way to encourage young users to update their safety and privacy settings. Instagram will show prompts asking them to review their Settings including controlling who can reshare their content, who can message and contact them, what content they can see and how they can manage their time spent on the app.
To view your Sensitive Content Control:
- Head over to your Instagram Profile.

Tap the Settings menu in the upper right corner.

Tap Account.

Tap Sensitive Content Control.

Here you can decide whether to keep the setting at its default state ‘Standard or to see more ‘More’ or less of some types of sensitive content ‘Less’.

- You can change your selection at any time.
Other than these, Instagram also provides you with additional tools that can help you shape your Instagram experience. These include Comment control, Restrict, Block, and Mute.
