Meta to discontinue Messenger Lite support for Android in September

Earlier, we reported that Facebook Messenger is soon going to drop the SMS facility for its users. Now, some new reports say that Meta is ready to discontinue the Messenger Lite support for Android devices by the 18th of September.

As per the revealings, a few users noted that opening the app now displays a full-screen prompt saying ‘Use Messenger to keep chatting’. It also reads a statement pointing out the unavailability of Messenger Lite support for Android in the coming days.

“Messenger Lite is going away, and will not be available after Sep 18.”

Meanwhile, the Messenger Lite application doesn’t show up on the Play Store anymore. For your information, this action won’t impact conversation history. Yet, to continue the chatting facilities, you need to switch to the primary app.

“We know your chats are important to you, so everything from Messenger Lite is still available in Messenger.”
