Nest Hub Max losing Google Meet, but it will still offer video calling

Earlier, we reported that Nest Hub Max will say goodbye to Google Meet and Zoom apps by the end of this month. This action was likely to mark an end to the video calling facility for Google Nest Hub Max devices. But it looks like, that won’t be the case at all.

This morning, Google shared a new announcement, citing that the Nest Hub Max devices will still offer the video calling facility to its users via the Google Duo application. Eventually, you can use the respective app by saying ‘Hey Google, call [contact] on Duo’ for audio and ‘video call [contact] on Duo’ for Facetime.

On the other hand, the US tech mentioned that the end of Google Meet and Zoom support will only restrict users from pre-scheduling meetings or joining them via links or codes. Other than that, the device will still let you enjoy video conferences and relevant features. You can read the setup instructions HERE.

“As we continue to make Google Assistant even more helpful, we’re prioritizing the features people love and exploring new ways to build generative AI capabilities into their Assistant experience. As a result, some underutilized features will no longer be supported.

There is no change to making 1:1 and group video calls to friends, family, and businesses with Google Meet. What’s changing at the end of September is the support for joining meetings via meeting codes and links in Meet.”
