Threads copycats Twitter again, add ‘rate limits’ feature to deal with spam

Posted on

Threads app is once again following the footsteps of Twitter and bringing the ‘rate limits’ feature to deal with spam. While the aim is to control the excessive rates of spam and junk messages, the Twitter owner strongly believes that the rival application is just copying them.

According to the inputs, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri launched the rate limits feature in the Threads app on July 17 and mentioned that the main aim of the facility is to restrict the growing number of reports regarding spam attacks and crypto-shilling bots.

Here’s what Adam quoted about this functionality on the Threads app:

“Spam attacks have picked up so we’re going to have to get tighter on things like rate limits. This is going to mean more unintentionally limiting active people (false positives). If you get caught up [in] those protections let us know.”

In response to this statement, Elon Musk commented “lmaooo copy” (with a cat emoji) on Twitter. Meanwhile, a user complained that the new addition to the Threads app has engaged users on the app blocking bots that were pushing gambling and crypto sites, for half of the time.
