X formerly Twitter will soon remove users’ ability where they can block unwanted people and will make the feature confined only to DMs. It’s not us but the CEO of Twitter company who says that the block feature will only be available for Direct Messages.
Adding a new post on X, Elon said that the block feature (on Twitter) ‘makes no sense’ and is better for DMs. Further, he recommended users take the help of the mute option. This is another weird change that may take over the application in the time ahead.
Note that there isn’t any confirmation whether the feature will become live or not. Neither Elon nor the company shared implementation plans so far. And it would be better to skip this idea as blocking is always better than muting and prevents a person from viewing anything on your profile or passing abusive comments.
Block is going to be deleted as a “feature”, except for DMs

On the other hand, if Twitter will remove the block feature, keeping it safe for DMs, then it may face consequences in Apple App Store. Some official App Store guidelines read that user-generated content must offer:
- A method for filtering objectionable material from being posted to the app
- A mechanism to report offensive content and timely responses to concerns
- The ability to block abusive users from the service
- Published contact information so users can easily reach you
Let’s see how things will change on this matter in the upcoming days.
