Recently, WhatsApp has rolled out the Dark Mode to all users. According to a new report, the messaging platform is testing a new privacy feature, which will allow you to secure the chat backups.

This new privacy feature will encrypt and protect your chat history before uploading the backup to the iCloud, hence resolve the security issue.
Currently, on your iPhone, you can back up the chat history to iCloud, but the backup media and messages are not protected by end-to-end encryption while in iCloud.
As reported by Webetainfo, this feature is currently being tested on the Android platform and using Google Drive for the Chat backups. This feature will eventually come to iPhone users too.
